Besides being committed to regularly posting about everything Disney, I am also committed to posting about running.
Princess Half Marathon Weekend is my big race weekend each year-besides competing in the Glass Slipper Challenge I am with my friends for 4 nights-totally immersed in Disney, racing and fun!
However throughout the year I am running weekly plus participating in a few other races.
In past years my training has not been consistent. I have trained well between the months of November until February and then once Princess Half Marathon weekend passes I slack until maybe November when I realize in just a few short months I will be participating in Glass Slipper Challenge before long.
This past year I was determined not to let that happen. I kept up with training throughout the year. I did well with being consistent with training but not with pushing myself.
About August I did start pushing myself and managed to increase my pace from 17/18 minutes per mile to 15/16 minutes per mile. However I know I still did not give 100%!
That is changing now!
In the past I have taken of a week or two after Princess Half Marathon Weekend, and then slowly started to run again. This time I was back to training by Wednesday!
Today I ran over 2.5 miles at a pretty good pace. Actually it was 3 miles, although I think I need a new Garmin as it did not activate until I was almost a 1/2 mile into my run!
And still I know I wasn’t pushing as hard as I could!
I leave on a cruise a week from today. One of my favorite parts of cruising is actually having time to lounge and read. My most recent copy of Runner’s World will be perfect-especially the article: Train Your Brain to Push Past Pain?
Question: How have you managed to push yourself and increase your pace?
