The 10K was over. It was time to celebrate. We had completed 6.2 Miles and only 13.1 more to go!
We had reservations at The Garden Grill-located in The Land at Epcot. With an 8:15 AM reservation we were allowed into the park prior to opening which is always fun.
My two friends had already switched into clean shirts aka not sweaty and stinky ones. We sat down, and I immediately went to change into a clean shirt.
I was gone less than 5 minutes, and when I came back the two of them looked really serious. They said they had to admit something. I could not for the life of me imagine what they had to tell me.
Well turns out the minute I went off to the ladies room the Cast Member who works with the characters brought them all over for a “Magical Moment.” She offered them the chance to have a picture with Chip, Dale, Mickey and Pluto. They did tell her that I was in the bathroom but her response was-we can’t hold a Magical Moment for your friend. So they decided to go ahead without me. I don’t blame them-I would have done the same.
So we eat our food, take pictures with the characters one by one. We had all agreed that none of us would go to the bathroom without the other two so there could be no more missed Magical Moments. But then one friend needed to go so she went.
As soon as she heads off I see our waiter carrying a cake. My friend at the table is beside herself. She can’t believe our friend is in the bathroom missing the cake being presented. The waiter puts the cake down, and says- Happy Birthday Pam!
My friend starts laughing, and says what a funny joke. The waiter looks at me and says your name isn’t Pam? I look at where the name is written and it says Happy Birthday Pam!
My friend realizes it is the wrong name on the plate, the waiter realizes that my name isn’t Pam, and our other friend comes back to the table with a lot going on. I am assuring my friend it is not a big deal. She always wants everything to be perfect for everyone else, and worries so much if something goes wrong. I assured her this was the sweetest surprise, and it didn’t matter what name was on the plate.
Meanwhile the Cast Member who works with the characters is hovering near our table and calling over Chip and Dale. She starts explaining to them that it is my birthday and I missed a Magical Moment, and then I got a cake with the wrong name. So she tells them they will both be taking a picture with me. So while not exactly the Magical Moment that might have been, it was still an amazing experience. And I love Chip and Dale so I was super happy to get a picture with the two of them, even if I had to become Pam to get that Magical Moment!
Question: Have you ever experienced a Magical Moment?
