Beauty and the Beast opened less than 2 weeks ago-on March 17th, 2017, and we have already seen it two times. And both times I paid actual money to see the movie-meaning not even one was a screening. If you know the prices of movies in 2017 you know that itself is a winning endorsement!
I often get asked what is my favorite Disney character, what is my favorite Disney movie. I find it a hard answer, but in my heart of hearts Beauty and the Beast is truly one of my favorites.
Cinderella holds a special place in my heart because it was the first movie I ever saw-I was 3 years old and while my memories are fragmented I definitely remember seeing it. I remember the location and the theater-the theater where I saw many movies but that no longer exists. A memory of my childhood.
Tangled is another favorite-specifically because of the lantern scene which is so beautiful-as well as the music.
And then there is Beauty and the Beast. As I mentioned in my previous post I still recall seeing the animated movie with my mom. The music and story were both wonderful. A few years later I would see it on Broadway. And I have seen it countless times in Hollywood Studios.
I wasn’t sure what to expect with a live action movie.
From the moment the movie started I was transported to a time of beauty and elegance and captured by the acting and the singing. The entire cast is captivating in each of their roles. And the music, both the original songs and the new ones are so beautiful. I didn’t waste any time after seeing it to download the soundtrack.
One of the newest songs: Evermore is sung by the actor Dan Stevens who plays the Beast. However it is also sung by Josh Groban at the end of the movie credits. Both renditions are wonderful, but definitely stay through the end of the credits to hear Josh Groban sing it.
While I do not think I will be seeing it a 3rd time in the theater-you never know. It was that good! I will definitely be adding it to my collection when it gets released to buy!
Question: Have you seen Beauty and the Beast? If yes, what did you think?
