Star Wars Half Marathon Weekend happened this past weekend. This was the Inaugural Star Wars runDisney event at Walt Disney World. Many I knew have been waiting for a long time for this. For me however-I know very little about Star Wars so I didn’t think too much of it.
However the temptation of a new course for the 10k and the half pulled me in, and I was signing up to take on The Dark Side!
I chose to take on The Star Wars Dark Side Challenge. This involved running a 10k one day, and a half the next. If both were completed I would get a medal for the 10k, a medal for the half, and a medal for the challenge. Having done the Glass Slipper Challenge 3 years in a row I was pretty confident I could take on and complete The Dark Side Challenge!
First Stop: Expo
The first stop with any runDisney race is Expo which is held at ESPN Wide World of Sports. Besides picking up my BIB there would be shopping to do since runDisney’s Expos always has many great vendors.
As I am not a huge Star Wars fan I wasn’t that interested in the merchandise. However I did want an I Did It shirt. I was THRILLED that the I Did It shirt was pink-perfect for me!
I had been concerned that there would be crazy crowds with the Expo, but maybe because I was there the second day it was pretty quiet. One of my good friends was running the race(s) with me so before heading out we took a picture.
With Expo complete we were ready to head back home, have an early dinner, and then go to sleep early to prepare to wake up at 3am.
Question: Do you look forward to Expo when you run a race at Walt Disney World?
