Disney with Children

To Monorail or Not to Monorail

If I had a nickel for every time someone asks me if it is worth it to stay at one of the three hotels which are on the monorail-well let’s just say I could probably move into one of those hotels for an entire year!

The three hotels are:

Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Disney’s Polynesian Resort

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

The first thing I tell people is you cannot go wrong with any Disney hotel-whether a Value, Moderate or Deluxe-you will enjoy. Disney knows how to run a first rate hotel, and make sure their guests have a fabulous experience.

That being said-the three hotels on the monorail line are considered Deluxe and have a level of luxury you will not find at the Value or Moderate hotels. Plus all three have monorail access to the Magic Kingdom and Epcot (although you will have to transfer monorails to get to Epcot).

If you have small children, and will be dealing with stroller(s) and can afford one of these three hotels you might find it worth it. While every Disney hotel has frequent transportation whether by monorail, bus or boat, these three hotels have the easiest and quickest transportation to the Magic Kingdom. In addition, when you go on one of the buses you will have no choice but to fold your stroller. It is a regulation (which I found out when staying at the Fort Wilderness and was taking a bus to Hollywood Studios). While you might have to fold your stroller on the monorail if it is super busy-in all my times on it-and I have gone on some of the busiest days-I have never had to fold my stroller.

Staying at one of the three hotels is definitely worth pricing out and seriously considering, but no matter where you stay you will have a Magical time!
