celebraTORI

I have been a fan of Tori Spelling’s since Beverly Hills 90210. I embrace that I’m old enough to remember the whole controversy to let Donna Martin graduate (if you don’t know what I am talking about start watching reruns of Beverly Hills 90210).

In the last few years I have been an avid watcher of her reality tv show plus I have read & loved all her books. I have even passed on my love of her books to Julia with the children’s book she wrote-Presenting Tallulah.

So when I got an invitation from The Moms http://themoms.com/ inviting me to celebrate Tori Spelling and her new book celebraTORI: Unleashing Your Inner Party Planner to Entertain Friends and Family at Make Meaning on the Upper West Side there was no question I was going.

The setting of the event was perfect. Make Meaning- http://www.makemeaning.com/ on the Upper East Side is my daughter’s home away from home. The event took place at the Upper West Side location which I had not been to yet. Like the Upper East Side it is a bright, chic, and inviting space. The event took place in the loft, and there was a delicious spread which included mini cupcakes by Baked by Melissa (http://www.bakedbymelissa.com/). The space was also beautifully decorated with floral arrangements from Telefora (http://www.teleflora.com/).

On Tori Spelling’s reality tv show-and every single interview-there is always the sense that she could be your best friend. In person she is the same way.  The attendees were given an open forum to ask whatever inquiring minds wanted to know. And she did it with the same honesty and humor that occurs when you hang out with your best girl friends.

After answering questions she happily signed copies of her book. I was literally right in front of her. The two women next to me and I started talking about how much we loved her nail polish. She was so enthusiastic-she said she could do this all day-she loves girl talk. Then she told us the best news ever-the color she was wearing was from her own nail polish collection. Seriously-there is nothing Tori Spelling cannot do. I am definitely ordering the nailpolish-it’s a perfect color for spring. And it comes with a ring as well! Nail polish is available to buy from HSN (http://www.hsn.com/)

After returning home I spent the afternoon going through the book CelebraTORI. I love throwing parties-and this book is chock full of great ideas. The first thing I am making is the Cupcake Cone. I have long been a fan of filling cupcake cones with batter, baking, and then frosting them. But Tori Spelling takes it to a whole new level.

I am sure the Cupcake Cone will be just one of the many recipes I use from her new book. I definitely think that anyone who loves Tori Spelling, cooking and baking, and party planning will be enchanted with her new book.
